Located just 15 minutes from the township of Rylstone/Kandos, 1 hour from Mudgee and 3hrs drive from Sydney is the 4221 acre grazing property Home Hills. This property dates back to the 1920’s and has the beautiful Capertee River and 3 main creeks running through it. Home Hills has infrastructure suitable for sheep and cattle operations and is fully fenced using ring lock and plain wires. The property has 22 dams and runs up into higher sloping hills that have native and improved pastures throughout. Originally logged and partly cleared, the property was then established as a merino sheep grazing property, the current owners have run this property as a vast hobby farm with between 50 to 100 breeding cows. Approximately 20-30% of the property is grazable with the balance being light to heavily timbered. Soil types range from granite and shale to heavier soils on river flats. The Capertee River loops around both homes and provides a dramatic backdrop with a spectacular waterfall coming to life with good rainfall. The four stand shearing shed has large shedding on one end for machinery. The shearing shed is in good condition but some yard building is required for full sheep operations to commence. It has mains power and large sheep shedding space.
The quality of wildlife is spectacular on the farm due to the river systems and tributaries. Neighbouring Home Hills is the newly preserved Capertee National Park. Long valleys flow for miles with water from these rivers and streams creating the perfect grazing property lending itself to breeding or wool growing rather than fattening. The properties realistic grazing capacities quoted by our vendor are approximately 100 breeding cows or 550-600 breeding ewes. Increased capacities would be attainable with fertilizer and increased management.
Many tracks over the property give fair to good access to all areas. The main access to the property is gravel and quite steep but opens out to the expanse of the Capertee River and beyond. Amazing views can be found on the property of the Capertee Valley and Brogans creek districts.
